Senior Advisor

Robert is Senior Advisor to Sabanci Climate Ventures and Co-Founder and Venture Partner at Lux Capital Management, a U.S.-based venture fund with over $5 billion under management. Rob has been a three-time founding CEO of startup companies emerging from Harvard Medical School, and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and has a broad range of private and public board experience. Robert is also an Advisor to Zelda Ventures, Outsized Ventures, and Broken String Biosciences Ltd. Robert was previously an advisor to Appa Health (adolescent mental health) and the President of documentary film company MacGillivray Freeman Films.

Robert was also Co-Founder of Lux Research and has served as an advisor to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a member of Motorola’s Research Visionary Board, and has been an invited lecturer or panelist at MIT, Stanford, Yale University, Brown, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the National Cancer Institute, Georgetown, and the University of Virginia. He has been published in The Journal of Biomedical Materials Research and Nature Biotechnology. Robert graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Architecture and is a former member of the Regional Selection Committee for UVA’s Jefferson Scholars Foundation and UVA’s Seed Venture Capital Fund.
